The easiest way to start is by taking our intro to climbing class that runs every Tuesday from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. We will give you a tour and teach all the basic climbing skills to help you get started.
If you’re just going to drop in for a single session, it’s $20. You may need to rent equipment, depending on your goals. We have memberships and several extended pass options available that significantly reduce the cost for frequent climbers. Check out our Rates + Policies page for more information.
Kids as young as 3 years old can climb with us. Supervision is required by anyone under the age of 16 (and not provided by staff). Attentive supervision is required for young children. For more information on policies and restrictions for minors, check out our Rates + Policies page.
At a minimum, a shirt and something to cover your bum. Skirts, skorts, kilts, and the like are not compatible with wearing a harness. Climbing attire ranges from yoga pants and lycra to jeans paired with a t-shirt or tank top. You’ll want to be able to move and rub up on gritty surfaces. Think “athleisure” and you’ll fit right in.
You don’t have to own climbing shoes to participate! We rent them and they help a lot. It’s not a scam, we promise.
To belay another climber, you need to first pass a belay test with us (eved if you’re certified at another gym). There is no cost associated and you do not have to take a class with us. We test to the AAC’s Universal Belay Standard, and have additional information on belay testing posted on our Rates + Policies page.
It’s as difficult as you choose it to be. The routes range in difficulty from “going up a ladder” to “make Bruce Lee cry”, and you can find a challenge for yourself anywhere in that spectrum. If you find you’ve bitten off more than you can chew, you can always come back down. That’s the easy part.
No… but our sister company French Broad Outfitters does and they have an outpost at The River location. Unfortunately, we cannot make a reservation for you or “get one real quick.”
